U.S. Figure Skating strives to provide a safe environment for its members that is free of misconduct and harassment. The association will not tolerate or condone any form of harassment or misconduct of any of its members, including athletes, coaches, officials, directors, employees, parents, volunteers or any other persons while they are participating in or preparing for a figure skating activity or event conducted under the auspices of U.S. Figure Skating. All forms of misconduct are unacceptable and in direct conflict with U.S. Figure Skating rules.

How does this affect High Altitude Skating Club Volunteers?

High Altitude Skating Club is committed to following all SkateSafe rules and regulations. You can learn more about SafeSkate here. You don't need to be club member to volunteer at a club event; however, many volunteers will need to complete SafeSport Training and a background check through USFSA. Checkout the chart below to see if you need to complete these tasks.

How do I take SafeSkate Training & complete a background check with USFSA?

1) Go to the U.S. Figure Skating Website -

2) Click on the "Login" button in the top right corner

3) Below the “Find a Club” button click “Non-member? Create an Account”

4) Choose “I am a volunteer”

5) Fill out required information

This will allow you to get a background check done by USFS without being a club member.
This will allow grandparents, siblings, neighbors etc to get a background check.

Please contact our Skate Safe chair with questions.
