Every ice skating journey starts with Learn to Skate! Designed for beginners and those with some experience, this program is offered in partnership between High Altitude SC and the City of Laramie Parks & Recreation.

Build Strong Foundations

Learn to Skate USAⓇ teaches the fundamentals of ice skating in a fun and safe environment, helping skaters gain confidence on the ice.

Progress at Your Own Pace

Classes are designed for all ages and abilities, with clear levels that let skaters advance step by step as they master new skills.

Fun & Encouraging Environment

Skaters learn alongside peers, make new friends, and enjoy the excitement of learning together in a supportive atmosphere.

Pathways Beyond Classes

Completion of Learn to Skate levels opens doors to more advanced opportunities like ASPIRE, figure skating, hockey, or recreational skating.

Snowplow

These classes are designed to help children six and younger develop the ABCs of movement – Agility, Balance, Coordination and speed. The ABCs are essential for developing fundamental movement skills and physical literacy.
All classes will be taught in a safe and positive environment, incorporating fun and games making class time an enjoyable experience for all.

Snowplow is divided into 4 levels. At the end of Snowplow, skaters should know:

  • Safely fall
  • Forward and backward skating
  • Dips and one foot balances
  • Two foot hops

Snowplow lessons are managed by the City of Laramie Parks & Recreation.

Snowplow level skaters can join High Altitude Skating Club to gain time on the ice and access to our shows and events.

Basic

At the Basic levels, skaters with some experience begin to refine their skills. They learn foundational skating, spin, and jump techniques to prepare them for Advanced Skating.

Basic includes six levels. At the end of the Basic levels, skaters will know:

  • Crossovers forward and backward
  • One and two foot spins
  • Side toe hops

Basic level 1-3 lessons are managed by the City of Laramie Parks & Recreation.

Basic 4-6 lessons are managed by High Altitude SC.

Basic level skaters can join High Altitude Skating Club to gain time on the ice and access to our shows and events.

ASPIRE Class

Take the next step in your skating journey with our ASPIRE class — the exciting bridge between the Learn to Skate Basic levels and the Free Skate levels!

Our coaching team will guide each skater through this transition to ensure appropriate placement and continued progress at a pace that supports long-term success.

Get ready to take your first step into your Advanced Skating figure skating experience!
