High School Skating

U.S. Figure Skating’s High School Program gives skaters the unique opportunity to compete as part of a team for their high school. Locally, this includes the Laramie High School Figure Skating Team. These skaters are not only members of their school team but are also active participants in High Altitude Skating Club. They are able to be fully involved in all aspects of our club—taking part in Learn-to-Skate, Club Ice, seasonal ice shows, competitions, and the many other opportunities we offer to help skaters grow and shine on the ice.

Build Friendships

High school skating teams bring a team atmosphere to an individual sport. Skaters form strong friendships, share experiences, and support one another both on and off the ice.

Develop Leadership Skills

Team members gain valuable real-world skills by helping organize and manage the team. From working with school administration to planning events, travel, and recruiting, skaters learn responsibility and leadership that go beyond the rink.

Stay Connected to Skating

Joining your school’s skating team allows you to continue enjoying the sport you love, even as your schedule and activities grow in high school.

Represent Your School

Experience the excitement of competing with your friends while proudly representing your high school team at competitions and events.

Skater Recognition

High School Lettering

Skaters can earn a Laramie High School Varsity or Junior Varsity letter by meeting specific expectations throughout the season. Requirements include:

  • Skating Achievements – completion of tests, competitions, or performances.
  • Team Participation – active involvement with the High School Skating Team and High Altitude SC.
  • Academic & Conduct Standards – maintaining school eligibility and positive representation on and off the ice.
  • Volunteer & Service Hours – contributing time to support club and community events.

Skaters need to communicate with their coach and the team manager, letters are awarded at our annual awards banquet.

Graduating Seniors

This U.S. Figure Skating program celebrates high school seniors who have balanced their academic studies with continued training in figure skating.

Skaters are honored with a certificate presented at a school event or recognition opportunity. Awards are given at four levels—bronze, silver, gold, and platinum—based on each skater’s highest skating achievement during high school.

Applications for the Class of 2026 open September 1, 2025, through USFS Members Only.
