Advanced Skating Levels

ASPIRE

The ASPIRE program is the next step for skaters who are ready to build on the foundational skills mastered in Learn to Skate. It marks an exciting transition from skater to figure skater, introducing athletes to a more structured training environment while continuing to foster confidence and enjoyment on the ice.

Designed to strengthen technical fundamentals, the ASPIRE program also teaches skaters how to train like higher-level athletes. Participants develop strong practice habits, improve ice awareness, learn goal-setting strategies, and build personal responsibility — all while refining quality technique in a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.

ASPIRE is divided into four progressive levels. Throughout their ASPIRE journey, skaters may learn:

  • Half-ice length step sequences
  • One-foot forward and back spins
  • Single jumps including Toe Loop, Salchow, Loop, Flip, and Lutz

ASPIRE-level skaters are eligible to join the High Altitude Skating Club, providing additional opportunities for ice time, professional coaching, and participation in club shows, competitions, and special events.

U.S. Figure Skating

As members of U.S. Figure Skating, athletes progress into the highest levels of figure skating, where training becomes more advanced and individualized. This stage focuses on refining technique, increasing athletic performance, and developing artistry while preparing skaters for testing and competitive opportunities.

U.S. Figure Skating includes eight achievement levels, ranging from Pre-Preliminary through Gold. As skaters advance, they build strength, consistency, and confidence while learning the discipline required for long-term success in the sport.

At these levels, skaters develop and demonstrate skills such as:

  • Full-ice step sequences with increased complexity and flow
  • Advanced spin variations with greater speed, control, and revolutions
  • Single Axel and double jumps
  • Strong edges, power, extension, and performance quality

Skaters at the U.S. Figure Skating level benefit from a structured training environment that may include private lessons, practice sessions, off-ice training, testing, and competitions — all designed to support continued growth and achievement.

U.S. Figure Skating level athletes are encouraged to join the High Altitude Skating Club to gain additional ice time, access professional coaching, and participate in club shows, competitions, and special events while becoming part of a dedicated skating community.

Competitions & Shows

Advanced skaters at High Altitude SC have many ways to challenge themselves and showcase their talent. Our seasonal ice shows are a chance to take center stage—whether performing a polished solo, collaborating in a duet, or joining a dynamic group number. Each performance is designed to highlight skills while celebrating the artistry of skating.

For those driven by competition, opportunities range from local club events to regional and national U.S. Figure Skating competitions. Skaters can set ambitious goals, test new programs, and measure progress against peers at their level, all within a supportive and inspiring environment.

Whether your passion is performance, competition, or both, High Altitude SC provides the stage for you to reach new heights.

U.S. Figure Skating Axel Club

Landing your very first Axel is an accomplishment that should be celebrated! U.S. Figure Skating’s Axel Club honors skaters who land their first Axel, acknowledging the dedication and effort it takes to master such a challenging jump.
